Sid Meier's Pirates! (PC)
Sid Meier's Pirates! is a classic computer game from 2004, it is actually a remake of an earlier version that gamers played from 1987 and it too was a hit. This version of Pirates! has you able to play as a Pirate working for one of the superpowers of the world in the 1600's. Britain, France, Spain and the Dutch are the options for players and it is usually a good idea not to sink the ships of the country you're in service to or the ones they're at peace with.
There is so much to do in this game, you need to recuit crew from taverns, you need to find your lost sister, defeat 10 historical pirates, find buried treasure, develop romance's with the Governor's daughter of a place you choose, fight in taverns or ships and more.
Having a bigger ship does not mean better, it is true that you could reduce ships to a burning hulk or sink them with a barrage or two from say a 40 gun ship but the downside is that your ship is slower to turn and a ship like a Sloop with 8 guns could fire and get out of the way of your fire easily. Tougher ships can be made by going to certain ports and purchasing upgrades, a high rank with a country allows you to upgrade for free. The hardest part of the game may actually be the dances you have to do with your love interest, these dances start easily as you get a guide but the further you progress in your romance, the guide disappears and the dances get more complicated. The fun part of the game is the duels, you can either fight a rude Captain at a Tavern or you try and board an enemy ship. If you fight on a ship, make sure you have more crew than the enemy, the longer your fight goes on, the more casualties are suffered by both crews.
The game is still able to be played on Windows 10 though time to time you need to quit and restart the program as the keypad at times is unavailable and without it you cannot steer swordfight or get your ship to fight. Sid Meier's Pirates! is an absolute classic and hopefully many people still play it around the world. Game rating: 5 out of 5.
